Film Kickstarter?

Posted by MOC-Productions - March 19th, 2012

Hey guys,

I only get a FP post every 14 days so I figure I might as well use it. This time I just have a question for you all...

I officially start filming my homage film (more info here) in two weeks. Needless to say, it is burning a rather large hole in my pocket. My shitty job doesn't pay much, so I can only afford so much. The film itself isn't going to be TOO expensive (about $400 maybe?), but like I said...me poor :(

So my question to you guys is...is it worth it to set up a Kickstarter fund to raise like $100 two weeks before shooting? Like would any of you donate to that? I'd rather know ahead of time if anyone's interested before setting this thing up, so any input you guys have would be great. I figure in the end, it probably won't be worth it, but if you guys are down and would end up donating, I will set it up and give everyone the proper credit.

In a nutshell, its a short film that will be shot in the style of director David Fincher, if that tickles anyone's fancy...

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE comment guys. Any input on this situation is totally welcome, good or bad.

Thanks!

I think they have to be on for a month, so not sure you'd get it in time. But not sure

Could be very worth doing once you've got some footage or if you can shoot a quick teaser to give people an idea of what it'd look/feel like and be about. I'd deffo give what I could if I liked what I saw

Thanks for the advice man. I wish I could throw something together, but I've only got 3 days to shoot lol. I figured it was probably too late, but its all good. I'm sure I can manage something. Just figured I'd check with fellow Newgrounders for some advice.

BTW, are you making a new Construction Men for Pico Day?

I agree with Ockeroid, and if worse comes to worse; just get a second job.

Something else to consider. If you have actors or crew already in mind, and some of them would like to use the project as a means of showcasing a skill set or talent, they too could help in pooling in to the cause.

It never feels good to ask that shit. But if it's a project others believe in, just by pooling some weekend drinking money, you'd get pretty close to your mark.

A very valid point, matey
