Working on a Film

Posted by MOC-Productions - February 28th, 2012

Hey NGs,

I haven't posted in quite some time. While I'm sure no one really cares why, I'll explain anyway...

School has been trying to bend me over and give me a good rogering, but I've been pretty resistant. Currently, I'm working on a short film for my Moving Image Production class. Our assignment is to create an 8-minute homage film to the director of our choice. My choice of director is David Fincher.

Now anyone who follows my work here on the site (yes I know, there aren't too many of you) should already know that I am big on film and always strive for a reasonable cinematic look. However, film and animation are two completely different things (yeah, no shit). So this project is going to suck every bit of life right out of me, but hopefully the end result will be something spectacular.

What I ask of all of you is simply support. Filming is scheduled to be finished at the very end of March. At that point, I'll put out a trailer and release the movie soon after. I'm not naive enough to think everyone on here will take a grand interest in a short student film, but I'm going to work my ass off on this thing.

All I ask is that if you guys do somehow end up stumbling across it when it's released AND you happen to like it, simply spread the word. I'm trying now more than ever to put myself out there and make my name a recognizable one. I've always loved the feedback, support, and even criticisms from the many users on this site and hope I can get those same things for this project.

Well, I'd say I've rambled for long enough. If you've made it this far, thanks for the support and taking the time out of your day to read this.

And of course, I can't make a post without posting SOME kind of picture, so here's an EXTREMELY ROUGH teaser/whatever poster for the movie I'm going to be working on. Just a really quick photoshop job.

Okay, I'm done for real now.

Good deal man, let me know if you need any film advice. I'm in the middle of my own feature film

I remember seeing you post about this ages ago. I may have even commented. Can't be sure. I do remember thinking it had a great professional look and a solid script. Thanks for the support and I will certainly do the same for you.

wait a second...you're not Doc-Moc :o

(facepalm)

Looks awesome! I'm transferring into film school next year, and I'm really excited! Are you a film major?

Yes I am. What school are you going to?

Looks interesting man. You better keep me posted!
How long is it gonna be?

Just 8 minutes, but it may go a bit longer.

Awesome man. Good luck with the film projects. Also nice choice of director.

Thanks man. I like to think I take the most influence from him so it'll be fun to pay proper tribute.

Minnesota State University Moorhead. It's really cheap there to get a film major compared to a lot others. :P

That's awesome man. I wish my college was cheap lol.

Hmm...it sounds interesting. Perhaps you should consider showing this to ConceptArt.org and FilmFights as well.

Sounds good man, You do have some great story telling chops so Im looking forward to seeing the progress in this. And yeah Live action is a totally different beast. Having done two shorts already it always seems like I make two new mistakes while rectifying one from the last one.

But thats the nature of the beast, looking forward to this.

Yeah man, the filming process is usually no picnic. I've done a few shorts in the past and remember times where it was pure hell. The good thing, though, is that makes everything worth it in the end (hopefully). I like how whether its film or animation, each project turns out to be a good learning experience.

I'll definitely keep you updated with the progress and look forward to your input.

Pretty awesome..... Also! I recommend that you don't forget your Madness project! If you believe that this entry is not support and is mainly a reminder....FUCK YOU....=/
I REALLY SUPPORT YOU ON THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really! I'm talking that your project for a class grade mainly sucks....(no offense) and that you mainly call this a "movie". I honestly hate doing something that's "fun" but have some things to do that relates to school...Especially college!
P.S.
If you DO respond to my crap, then,Thanks!
I tried to make this comment the most honest I can make it...
BUT I REALLY JUST WANT TO SEE SOME MOVIES CREATED BY YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I MISS THE SUSPENSE AND SHIT!
Great artwork btw! (hard to believe that's Photoshop the first time I saw this)

Well thanks for your support. It's nice to hear positive comments from a fan. And I assure you, this film project will not "suck" or at least I don't intend on it sucking. I spent alot of time developing this thing so that I could create the same type of tension and suspense I strive for in my flash movies, so hopefully you'll enjoy it.
