Didn't he do "The Taking Of Pelham 123"? That was a pretty good film with some great lines for Travolta.

I find this hard to believe mainly because he would've stolen an f12 fighter jet from the air force base and flown into the sun rather than make it simple.
Maybe he tried to and they told him no, so this was his second option.

Wow. Truly heartbreaking, as this guy directed some pretty huge swaths of my childhood.
I love me some Top Gun to this day, despite the fact that half of the film consists of dudes high-fiving on the beach. Crimson Tide nearly gave me a heart attack every time I watched it. And Man on Fire literally influenced my decision to join the military, as well as my unhealthy preoccupation with Clair de Lune. But Enemy of the State is one of the most raw, quintessential towers of badass action/suspense film-making to ever make the screen.
Sir. We salute you.
Every time I watch Enemy of the State, it feels like it's only an hour. Hard to believe its over two and a half.
I enjoyed Days of Thunder when I was six years old, and Enemy of the State was pretty intense.
Yeah, there's no doubt in my mind that he practically defined the summer blockbuster with his line of movies. This is coming from somebody who really wasn't even born when most of his classics came out. He's one of those people where, if they were to die in a tragic event such as this, everybody is going to be effected due to what he brought to the industry; even if his name doesn't ring a bell.
Yeah, the sad part is the media is going to forget about this in a week, but someone like Michael Jackson dies and they cover it for months.
This is very sad. He was a great action/blockbuster director (one of the best). I love his "oldshool" style of movies.
My favorite is "The Last Boyscout", but I also really like "Unstoppable" and "Beverly Hills Cop".
Don't forget "The Fan". A little cheesy, but I love it.
Damn... he will be missed, that's for goddamn sure.

But yeah I read about this. Sad to hear about it, but in the same way it is kind of badass. As weird as it feels saying that a suicide was "badass" it fits I think.
